Socialism Sale

“Better shun the bait than struggle in the snare.” ― John Dryden

EVERY DAY, SOCIALISM BECOMES MORE AND more popular among young Americans.
There are 3 big reasons why:

bait-and-switch

1 Socialism is being marketed to young people as kind, selfless, and community-focused,

2 Many people are unaware of Socialism’s
dismal record, and

3 Young people are not being taught America’s founding principles, so they are unprepared to combat the narratives they hear in their schools and colleges.

At first glance, these narratives may sound compelling.

“The biggest challenge facing the great teachers and communicators of history is not to teach history itself, nor even the lessons of history, but why history matters. How to ignite the first spark of the will o’the wisp, the Jack o’lantern, the ignis fatuus [foolish fire] beloved of poets, which lights up one source of history and then another, zigzagging across the marsh, connecting and linking and writing bright words across the dark face of the present. There’s no phrase I can come up that will encapsulate in a winning sound-bite why history matters. We know that history matters, we know that it is thrilling, absorbing, fascinating, delightful, and infuriating, that it is life.” –Stephen Fry, Making History

Key Takeaways:

-Israel, India, and the United Kingdom all adopted socialism as an economic model following World War II.

-Socialism is guilty of a fatal conceit: It believes its system can make better decisions for the people than they can for themselves.

-Socialism has failed in every country in which it has been tried.

and yet, socialism still beguiled leading intellectuals and politicians of the West. They could not resist its siren song, of a world without strife because it was a world without private property. They were convinced that a bureaucracy could make more informed decisions about the welfare of a people than the people themselves could. They believed, with John Maynard Keynes, that “the state is wise and the market is stupid.”

As British prime minister Margaret Thatcher observed, “the problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people’s money.”

Every day, more and more of young Americans are heeding the siren song of socialism.

Because of the breakdown of education and the extraction of our founding principles from American classrooms, young people – tomorrow’s leaders – believe the bold lie that government is the solution to any economic problem.

If we want to preserve the America we know and love, we need to stop the lie—immediately. And the best way to counter this lie is to share the truth.

That’s why the team at The Heritage Foundation put together an exclusive e-booklet called The 9 Ways Socialism Will Morally Bankrupt America. It has all the arguments you’ll need to explain the dangers of socialism—and to expose the heartlessness and cruelty of a socialist regime.

Lemmings

In 1964, the great Ronald Reagan gave one of his most powerful speeches, called “A Time for Choosing”. In this speech, he said it best:

“A government can’t control the economy without controlling people. And they know when a government sets out to do that, it must use force and coercion to achieve its purpose. They also knew, those Founding Fathers, that outside of its legitimate functions, government does nothing as well or as economically as the private sector of the economy.”

What has been, that will be;
what has been done, that will be done.
Nothing is new under the sun;
the future only repeats the past.
One person may say of some idea,
“Pay attention to this; it’s original!”
But that same idea has already been expressed;
it’s been with us through the ages.
We do not remember those people and events of long ago,
as future generations will not remember what is yet to come.

This election will definitely separate the lemming from the learn-ed; learn-ed, not indoctrinated.

Prayers for God’s wisdom, direction, and discernment, understanding for our leaders and ourselves. His forgiveness, mercy, and grace for our sins, limitations, and shortcomings. His strength, courage, and unlimited power on behalf of those in this blessed country of America who, while not perfect, love Him and His law and recognize His Sovereignty. In Jesus’ name. Amen (and so be it).
Our God is faithful.

Great peace have they which love His law and nothing causes them to stumble.

Blessing on your journey.

SMALL STRAWS IN A SOFT WIND
by Marsha Burns

August 12, 2020: Your uncertainty does not reflect My heart. I am never uncertain. I know the beginning and the end and everything in between. And I call you to be in the spiritual place where you trust so completely in My ability to lead and guide you that you are not uncertain either. Your natural mind wants to worry, but your spirit, grounded in Me, will choose to trust. Be strong and unwavering. Ephesians 6:10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.

August 11, 2020: To those who are grappling with a difficult problem, remember that you can ask Me and I will give you a solution. I will show you the way. Stand firm on the assurance that I will help you. Do not fret or worry. Silence your inner turmoil so that you can hear My still, small voice. Zechariah 2:13 “Be silent, all flesh, before the Lord, for He is aroused from His holy habitation!”

“… and that’s why the Founders our this Nation said that our freedoms and our system is based upon a well-informed and educated populace, and if they ever become anything other than that, the nature of the country will change; because if the people are not well informed all it takes is unscrupulous politicians and news media and off the people go in a completely wrong direction, listening to all kinds of propaganda and inculcating that into their method of thinking. And then it becomes real easy for them to swallow things. If they don’t really understand the financial state of the country and someone comes along and says, “Free college for everybody,” they’ll say, “Oh, what a wonderful person!” And they have no idea all they’re talking about is the hastening the destruction of the Nation.”
