Turned Off to Christ

Some won’t give Christian based blogs a second glance and I understand, truly.  Some professing Christian’s have given Christianity a bad name for a myriad of reasons.  Saddest thing I’ve heard in a while is a comment I read just a few days ago: Get rid of ALL religion; it’s the root of every evil.

Really? Sure it’s not people? maligning, misusing and misrepresenting.  I sat under a Pastor who once said, {paraphrase} if you ever find the perfect Church, leave before you ruin it.   He also said, people can get it wrong and often do, God never will.

I disagree with the idea we need to throw the baby out with the bath water.  I do agree man-made religions are evil because SELF is the root of every evil– not religion, not money.  SELF.

The world doesn’t need more religion or religious choices, it needs a right understanding and a reverence for Sovereign God who sacrificed His Son to reestablish relationship. The Bible says, Gaining sound judgment is key, so first things first: go after Lady Wisdom!  Now, whatever else you do, follow through to understanding.

Wisdom without proper understanding of application is a recipe for disaster.  It takes time to mature in life, in Christianity.  If a professing Christian turned you off to Christ Jesus, consider we’re merely human.  I haven’t met one yet worth going to hell for.

Read many good books, visit many good blogs and yes, add your unique God-given voice to the melee.  But please never make the mistake and elevate the created over the Creator- human intelligence over Sovereign Wisdom.

There are many voices out there clamoring to be heard.  Best guidance I ever received in view of my own deep, moral wrestling’s and the over-whelming influx of seemingly contradictory information on the very same subject everyday…

What does the Bible say?

God will speak if you’re willing to listen.  I choose my Sovereign over a sage.
