Illusory Life

Insane delight of the moment

Fades even as one owns it

Ethereal breaths breathe the omen

A voice says, “Shout!”
    I said, “What shall I shout?”

“These people are nothing but grass,
    their love fragile as wildflowers.
The grass withers, the wildflowers fade,
    if God so much as puffs on them.
    Aren’t these people just so much grass?

True, the grass withers and the wildflowers fade,
    but our God’s Word stands firm and forever.”

Isaiah the Prophet (approx 700yrs BC)

“Lord,” Martha said to Jesus, “if you had been here, my brother would not have died.

Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in Me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in Me will never die. Do you believe this?”

“Yes, Lord,” she replied, “I believe that you are the Messiah, the Son of God, who is to come into the world.”

Jesus, once more deeply moved, came to the tomb. It was a cave with a stone laid across the entrance.“Take away the stone,” He said.

“But, Lord,” said Martha, the sister of the dead man, “by this time there is a bad odor, for he has been there four days.”

Then Jesus said, “Did I not tell you that if you believe, you will see the glory of God?”

So they took away the stone. Then Jesus looked up and said, “Father, I thank You that You have heard Me.  I know that You always hear Me, but I said this for the benefit of the people standing here, that they may believe that You sent Me.”

When He had said this, Jesus called in a loud voice, “Lazarus, come out!”

The dead man came out, his hands and feet wrapped with strips of linen, and a cloth around his face.

Jesus said to them, “Take off the grave clothes and let him go.”

A very wise man of this generation- dare I say Prophet of God, once said: “in demonstration of God’s power and Sovereignty over life, Lazarus was raised to live for a time; yet like all mortals, at the appointed time, he died to this life once and for all.”

I could wish this life more than a proving ground of sorts but- dust to dust and all that.  It’s a promise Time keeps.

Grace and Mercy in Christ,

IMMENSELY good and honorable is the Eternal;
    that’s why He teaches sinners the way.
With JUSTICE, He directs the humble in all that is right,
    and He shows them His way.
KIND and true are all the ways of the Eternal
    to the people who keep His covenant and His words.

O LORD, the Eternal, bring glory to Your name,
    and forgive my sins because they are beyond number.
MAY anyone who *fears the Eternal
    be shown the path he should choose.

A song of David: {worth reading in its entirety}
Psalm 25 The Voice (VOICE)

*Reverence for the Eternal, the one True God, is the beginning of wisdom; true knowledge of the Holy One is the start of understanding.-Proverbs 9:10 The Voice (VOICE)
